What to Pack for Monaco

The time is rapidly approaching, and we know you’re thinking about what to bring to your sunny summer kick-off in beautiful Monaco! We’ve covered all the bases in this post so you can be prepared for every day’s adventures: from head to toe.

What clothing should I pack?

In general, the clothes you pack for this trip should be comfortable and not easily wrinkled. It does not often rain in Monaco in mid-May and the temperatures are pleasantly mild: the average high is about 68°F, and the average low reaches 58°F. Your best bet is to bring light layers that can be shed throughout the day, depending on the activity you’re participating in and the weather. Don’t forget your swimwear: Monaco is famous for their coastline packed with beautiful beaches.

At the Monte Carlo Casino, the staff strive to preserve a sense of tradition and luxury within its walls. Because of this priority, they enforce a dress code that you should take into consideration as you plan what to pack. At the venerable Casino de Monte-Carlo, casual attire is only permitted between 9am and 2pm in the Salle Renaissance rooms and the Atrium. Be aware that trainers, sandals, and flip-flops are not permitted in the Salle Europe room at any time, and they frown upon any clothing that is casual in nature or appearance (so leave your ripped jeans and leggings home on this trip).

Our experienced travelers recommend mixing and matching your glitzy, luxe-feeling statement pieces with items that are practical for long days of touring and traveling. You can expect to spend a large chunk of time outside and walking while visiting local tourist attractions and casino-hopping.

Thursday night will also need to be on your radar as you’re planning travel outfits: our company farewell dinner will have a semi-formal dress code, which means suits or sports jackets for men and dresses or pant suits for the ladies. Feel free to go full formal with a sharp tuxedo or little black dress: you’ll feel like a character straight out of James Bond, and who doesn’t want to be mistaken for a “femme fatale” while in Monaco?

What kind of toiletries will I need?

Keep yourself fresh and ready on your once-in-a-lifetime trip by making yourself a toiletry checklist ahead of time by keeping track of the items you regularly use. Don’t forget those necessary basics, like toothpaste, dry shampoo, and sunscreen, and you might want to consider what over the counter meds you could need overseas. Many people have difficulty adjusting to time changes so they suffer headaches or can’t sleep, and still others are challenged by the change in diet that international travel is bound to bring. There will also be humidity to consider—on an average day in May, the humidity can reach up to 90%! Planning ahead keeps you energetic and ready for whatever the day brings!

Don’t forget to leave some room in your suitcase for souvenirs! Worst-case scenario, if your shopping fervor conquers your baggage space, Monaco is actually a great place to buy additional luggage, especially designer brands.
